I Am Grandma.
The Girl Behind the Grandma
(Also known as Andie)
I’ve come to find in my long twenty-one years of life that I have never truly identified with any age group. When I was in elementary school, I wanted to be in high school. When I was in high school, I longed to be in college. When I was in college, I wanted to be in… a nursing home?? Well, not exactly. Although it would be nice to have meals prepared and fed to me, not to mention endless nights of playing cribbage with the gals (actually, I don’t know how to play cribbage…) but that is beside the point!
What I am trying to convey is that I am currently an 80-year-old Grandma in a 21-year-old body. It’s not that I don’t enjoy being in my twenties, I think it is quite wonderful so far. But for some reason, I relate more with an older crowd and my granny-ways single me out amongst my peers.
For starters, Bananagrams is my jam at holiday parties. I prefer drinking tea instead of alcohol, on the large majority of occasions. I am more interested in putting on pearls and a pretty sundress for Afternoon Tea with my Mum than clubbing four nights a week in my bodycon booty hugger. I pin like it is no one else’s business and I care for flowers and plants like they are my own children.
I am a crafter, baker, tea enthusiast, pin-collector, believer in natural beauty, holiday obsessed, and flower-loving gal. I do not know what mental age I will be ten years from now, but today I am Grandma, hear me roar.
